At Wilson Lumber, we like to think of millwork as the finished woodwork that brings true craftsmanship to a building and transforms it into a place worth remembering. Millwork is what makes so many of the historic homes in Huntsville’s Twickenham, Five Points and Old Town Historic Districts—some of the oldest homes in Alabama—some of Madison County’s most highly coveted real estate.

All the Little Extras

In short, the excellence of millwork and trim defines a home and makes everything a little more special, and that’s where Wilson Lumber really shines. It’s in the doors and door frames, their transoms and side lites, the windows and window casings, the crown moldings and cornices, the corbels and chair rails, the rosettes and appliques, the judges paneling and tiered wainscoting, the wall niches and even the statement baseboards. Our millwork covers the beautiful compositions of trims and mouldings used in fireplace mantels, built-in bookcases, window seats and custom cabinetry as well as tray ceilings, decorated ceilings and even decorative rafters. However, millwork doesn’t end there.

Columns

Columns are a staple of Southern architecture—historic and modern—for both exteriors and interiors, and they come not only in wood but also in fiberglass, PVC and aluminum. From square tapered base columns to newels and caps, Wilson Lumber can provide the perfect composition tailored to your architectural space.

Stairs and Stair Parts

Whether you’re thinking of an open curved staircase with a balcony, a straight ascent or a 90-degree L-shaped design, each is a complex assemblage of millwork consisting of dozens of stair parts. At Wilson Lumber, our skilled craftspeople make it all easy for you while ensuring your project has all the treads, risers, stringers, newel posts, balusters and banisters you need and exactly the finials, fillets and rail fittings you want to make the project appear effortlessly seamless. Plus, if you need that concealed set of attic stairs or pull-down stairs—and most people do—we have those too.

Trim and Mouldings

Lest we forget, it’s the incredible assortment of ornamental mouldings—the trims—available here at Wilson Lumber that makes it all work. From the narrowest, thinnest bead of shoe round to standard 3-inch beveled chair rail to custom 6-inch Greek Revival crown moulding, if that’s what your project needs, that’s what we’ll supply. Wilson Lumber stocks hundreds of styles of moulding, and we have hundreds more available for order. Pick a top-quality clear oak, poplar, maple or pine milled for staining, or choose from our primed and paintable products like composite, MDF, and primed fingerjoint pine or poplar. Whether you need to work by wood species and moulding style or solve a challenging millwork transition, we’re ready to help you complete a flawless job.

Artistic Vision

Let Wilson Lumber help you create something distinctly yours—a window nook to inspire you, a room your guests will admire, an entryway with an awe-inspiring welcome. Come visit us on Meridian Street.  We’ve got sleek and modern, rustic and raw, or stately and elegant, just tell us what you want. It’s all up to you.
